NORTH BAY, Ont.: Rotacan, a mining equipment manufacturer in North Bay, Ont., is getting some federal government help to expand its product line.

The company is getting a $455,000 investment through the federal FedNor program, which provides regional business development assistance to companies in Northern Ontario.

Rotacan said it is currently the only Canadian company that designs and makes rotary blast hole drill bits. The federal investment will allow it to develop a sealed bearing drill bit.

This new product will be used in mining and the oil and gas industry, allowing Rotacan to pursue other international markets.

The company also manufactures drill steel and other associated drilling consumables for blast hole drilling.
