CAMROSE, Alta.: The union representing workers at Evraz Camrose Works in Alberta says the company is going to lock them out this weekend.
CAW Local 551 said in a news release that the company issued a 72-hour lockout notice on Wednesday.
It says the lockout is meant to try to get concessions from the 105 machine operators, tradepersons and labourers at the plant in Camrose.
The contract with Evraz expired on Feb. 1, and the union says there has been nine days of negotiations since November.
The union says little progress has been made, few economic or language issues have been settled and the company has offered no wage increases over a three-year-contract.
The plant, which was previously known as OSM Tubular Camrose, manufactures tubular goods and line pipe for oil and natural gas.
Evraz is headquartered in Chicago.
