Cold climate turbines to power Oshawa wind farms

REpower Systems Inc. is supplying Wind Works Power Corp. with 15 of its REpower MM92 turbines for two Ontario wind farms that will be capable of providing 30 megawatts of power.

OTTAWA: REpower Systems Inc. is supplying Wind Works Power Corp. with 15 of its REpower MM92 turbines for two Ontario wind farms that will be capable of providing 30 megawatts of power.

REpower, the Montreal-based Canadian subsidiary of REpower Systems AG, will deliver, install and maintain 15 cold-climate versions of its turbines for the 10 megawatt Whispering Woods and 20 megawatt Ganaraska wind farms in Southern Ontario’s Oshawa region.

The two farms will be capable of supplying electricity to approximately 60,000 homes.

Both wind parks projects have been awarded an Ontario Feed-In Tariff (FIT) power purchase contract by the Ontario Power Authority and environmental studies are underway.

Wind Works Power is a wind energy investment company based in Ottawa with several wind projects on the go in Ontario, Germany and the US.

REpower Systems AG, a Suzlon group company, is a global manufacturer of onshore and offshore wind turbines with rated outputs of 1.8 megawatts to 6.15 megawatts, and rotor diameters of 82 metres to 126 metres.
