Electrovaya batteries to power Chrysler demo fleet

Electrovaya is supplying the battery systems for a demonstration fleet of Chrysler plug-in hybrid electric minivans developed in partnership with the US Department of Energy.

TORONTO: Electrovaya Inc. is supplying the battery systems for a demonstration fleet of Chrysler plug-in hybrid electric minivans developed in partnership with the US Department of Energy.

The Town and Country minivans will be equipped with Lithium Ion SuperPolymer battery systems and join a fleet of 140 similarly equipped Ram 1500 pickup trucks that are going to 12 partners including local municipalities, state governments, universities and energy companies across the US.

The Toronto-based developer and manufacturer of electric vehicle battery systems is both the cell and battery pack supplier for the Chrysler minivan, its second major automotive platform.

The battery pack includes Electrovaya’s battery cells, proprietary thermal and battery management systems and the required subsystems.

Electrovaya designs, develops and manufactures lithium ion batteries and related products for electric vehicle, consumer and healthcare industries.
