BURNABY, BC: Day4 Energy Inc. is expanding its production capacity in Europe to meet increased demand for its high performance photovoltaic products.

Day4, a Burnaby, BC manufacturer of high-power solar panels and systems, will increase capacity at its third party manufacturing facility in Poland from 50 to 120 megawatts annually.

“This decision is a direct result of a significant increase in demand that has allowed us to bring our manufacturing facilities in Poland to full capacity earlier this year. We believe that despite the upcoming changes to subsidy programs in Germany, market demand for PV products will continue to be underpinned by renewed investor appetite in existing as well as emerging markets and increased bank debt availability,” said George Rubin, president of Day4.

Rubin said the increased demand and production volume will reduce costs.

The first phase of expansion will be an increase to 75 megawatts by mid-May. Expansion to 120 megawatts will be completed by the end of June.

Day4 expects with the expansion to increase productivity from five to seven days.
