Briggs & Stratton acquires Brazil’s Branco for $60 million

Branco produces light power equipment.

MILWAUKEE, Wis.—Briggs & Stratton Corp. has acquired Brazil’s Companhia Caetano Branco for approximately $60 million.

Founded in 1936, Branco is a Brazilian light power equipment brand with a line of outdoor power equipment used in light commercial applications. Its products including generators, water pumps, and light construction equipment are sold through its independent network of over 1200 dealers throughout Brazil. It employs approximately 150 people in Brazil.

Briggs & Stratton says it will finance the acquisition with cash on hand and its existing credit facilities.

Branco has annual sales of approximately $40 million.

Briggs & Stratton Corp., headquarted in Milwaukee, Wis., is one of the world’s largest producers of gas engines for outdoor power equipment. Its subsidiary, Briggs & Stratton Power Products LLC is a marketer of portable generators and pressure washers, and manufacturer of standby generators, lawn and garden equipment and turf care products. It has operations in more than 100 countries.
