GLEN ELLYN, Ill: The Educational Services Committee of the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) has released the first in a new series of “Industry Briefs” that identify bearing selection specifics used by individual industries.

The Poultry Process brief details the use of bearings in poultry processing and is available for downloading as both a PowerPoint presentation and a PDF from under Tools You Can Use.

It maps the poultry process and identifies particular requirements for bearings. For example, in the receiving process, the brief points out: “This application is subjected to shock loads which require rugged cast iron construction pillow block and four-bolt flanged bearings. Corrosion resistant bearings are usually not required at this stage of the
process.”

Selection specifics in other industries will be addressed in subsequent Industry Briefs.
