Wohlers and CRIQ partner on additive manufacturing skills training

QUEBEC CITY — Wohlers Associates Inc. is partnering with Québec Industrial Research Centre (CRIQ) to offer three days of intensive training on design for additive manufacturing (DfAM).
The course is aimed at designers, engineers, and managers wanting to learn how to design parts that would be made from the additive manufacturing process.
Wohlers, a consulting firm based in Fort Collins, Colo., focuses new developments and trends in rapid product development and additive manufacturing.
The provincially-owned CRIQ, which facilitates innovation services for Quebec businesses, sees this partnership contributing to a more skilled workforce in a province that has established aerospace and automotive sectors.
Montreal is the home of early adopters in AM technology and a number of companies involved in the AM supply chain. “The CRIQ has always been ahead of the curve in the adoption and commercialization of new technologies. Partnering with organizations such as Wohlers Associates to train our workers is part of our strategic mission to help companies transition to innovative manufacturing,” says Denis Hardy, CRIQ’s president and CEO.
Training at the CRIQ’s Montreal research facility June 12-14 will cover the consolidation of many parts into a fewer number of them, topology optimization, lattice/mesh structures, best practices, and DfAM rules and guidelines.
